Erros da Crunchyroll

This website stopped being updated in April 2022 because errors stopped being fixed after the Funimation/Sony merge.

One of the best things about Crunchyroll is that they're always improving: their translation quality improved a lot in the last years. In this website - which name means “Crunchyroll Errors” - we list issues found in Portuguese translations. In order to make fixing easier each issue found have a screenshot, explanation, anime title, episode number and video timestamp.

Most issues are simple to fix, such as extra spaces in the subtitles:

A huge typo in Himote House Before Fixed typo After

There are also styling issues such as the translation of this sign, which was too bright before but was improved and now fit the sign better:

The colors in the translation were wrong Before Fixed and improved styling After

In this other example “A delinquent feral rabbit?” was translated to “A delinquent feral rat?”:

Translation error in Gochuumon wa Usagi desu Ka Before Fixed translation error After

This website was created at the end of 2018, lists 5,277 errors and 1,431 of those already got fixed by Crunchyroll staff. The below table shows some numbers that reflect how the service quality improved:

Year Anime count Errors Errors/anime Fixed errors
2012 22 392 17.8 50 (13%)
2013 28 526 18.8 48 (9%)
2014 37 568 15.4 205 (36%)
2015 30 234 7.8 112 (48%)
2016 60 446 7.4 124 (28%)
2017 57 519 9.1 151 (29%)
2018 69 486 7.0 187 (38%)
2019 64 465 7.3 169 (36%)
2020 48 300 6.3 108 (36%)
2021 70 459 6.6 132 (29%)
2022 11 29 2.6 6 (21%)
Funimation 7 111 15.9 0 (0%)

The year in the above table is the release year of each episode to premium users. It not includes 201 episodes (with 399 errors, 99 fixed) which were released before 2012 (as the service was not available in Brazil before that) neither 151 episodes (with 332 errors, 40 fixed) which were been removed from the service. The translations sourced from Funimation are listed in a separate row because they have a different quality level from those from Crunchyroll.
